Responsible Travel
We believe tourism should uplift communities, protect nature, and honour culture — not just pass through it
The business of business should not be about money. It should be about responsibility. It should be about public good, not private greed.
Since 2009
Travel that gives
back to the world
At Elephant Tours, we believe that the privilege of travel comes with a responsibility — to the land, the wildlife, and the people who make each destination remarkable.
Since 2009, we've embedded sustainable and ethical practices into every aspect of our operations. From the partners we choose to the routes we plan, every decision is guided by a commitment to leaving places better than we found them.

Our Framework
Three Pillars of Impact
Environmental Conservation
We champion wildlife protection, carbon-conscious travel, and eco-friendly practices that leave the natural world better than we found it.
Community Development
Fair wages, local employment, and meaningful partnerships with small businesses ensure tourism benefits the people who call these places home.
Cultural Preservation
We support local artisans, protect heritage sites, and educate travelers on traditions — ensuring culture is celebrated, never commodified.

Our CSR Projects
Real initiatives, real impact — here's what we're doing in the communities we love
Wheelchair Donation
AccessibilityMobility is freedom. Through our wheelchair donation initiative, we source and distribute wheelchairs to individuals with physical disabilities across Sri Lanka who otherwise cannot access basic mobility aids. Each chair is matched to the recipient's needs and delivered with support from local healthcare volunteers. Since the programme began, we have helped dozens of families regain independence and confidence.
Support Plantation Schools
EducationChildren in Sri Lanka's tea plantation communities often study in under-resourced schools with limited access to books, furniture, and learning materials. We partner directly with plantation schools in the hill country to provide educational supplies, refurbish classrooms, and fund extracurricular programmes. Our goal is to ensure that geography and socioeconomic background never become barriers to a quality education.

Responsible Travel
Guidelines
Every journey begins with intention. We ask all our travelers to carry these principles with them — not as rules, but as a shared commitment to the places we love.
- Respect local customs, traditions, and dress codes at all sites
- Minimise plastic use and dispose of all waste responsibly
- Support local businesses, markets, and artisans over chains
- Observe wildlife only from a safe and respectful distance
- Conserve water and energy in all accommodations
- Learn about and genuinely appreciate local culture and history
